3/5/10 - Nick Clegg visits the Palace
In
the spirit of democracy the Palace proudly hosted Nick Clegg as
part of the 2010 General Election. A great afternoon was had by
all. A special thanks goes out to all those who helped out on
a day when too much politics was barely enough!.

19/10/09 - Before and After - The complete restoration of the
Palace Road Community Hall
Many
people come and visit us at the Palace and admire the premises.
But few realise just how much work went into renovating it. Below
are the before and after shots that tell a small part of the story.
Special thanks again for all who contributed to help make it possible.
Before:
Vandalism meant that the roof leaked and windows were broken.
Consequently many structures needed to be replaced |
Before:
pigeons had got inside and their dropping had done a lot
of damage. This made it a potential environmental hazard

6/1/09 Dick Whittington and his Cat - Pantomime
at the Palace
I’m
only three-months-old, but the other day my Dad took me
to see the Christmas Panto at the Palace. We arrived a
little late, but managed to find a space at the back with
some of the parents. All the other girls & boys got
to sit at the front right next to Dick & Puss in Boots,
but I’m glad I stayed away from all the action because
the evil Queen was very wicked!
There
were plenty of refreshments at the interval and my Dad
was so greedy, he ate 3 pizza slices. When the second
act started, a few of the other babies & toddlers
started to get a little upset, but luckily there were
plenty of toys and baby rockers to keep everyone happy.
I even made some friends, especially with a one year old
boy called Zac and hopefully there will be even more children
& parents there next year who I can make friends with!

4/1/09 Glen with our champion friends at Morrisons
Credit
where credits due! Morrisons have been there from the beginning
and have done an awful lot for us at the Palace. The Morrisons
team lead by Sean Ryder have supported us over the last three
years and have made vital contributions to the major refurbishment
of the Palace Road Community Centre. They did excellent work on
the restoration and painting of the interior as well as major
work on the kitchen and electrics. They have since remained responsible
for ongoing maintenance of the centre.
They
have also donated all our desktop computers which are for the
use of our local young people and the wider community. Now Sean
is keen to sponsor our local football team. Thanks Sean for everything
and hats off to you and your team of champions!
